tut 3.1 solving linear systems by graphing Example #2

sales clerks at a computer store have a choice of 2 methods of pay.
plan A= 5%of commission
plan B= weekly salary of $200 plus 2% of commission sales
Explain which is better and why
Solution
plan A is 5% so y=0.05x
plan B is 200 dollars plus 2% so y=200+0.02x
each equation equals a linear function so type each one into the y= function
then adjust your window settings to the best fit of the graph
press window function
x min=0
x max=9400
x scl=100
y min=0
y max=600
y scl=1oo
x res=1

so the 5% of commission is at a faster rate so it would be the better choice
to find the break even point you click 2nd function trace 5 or intersect
set first curve to the left then second curve to the right and guess then enter
the break even point (or intersection) is x=6666.66 Y=333.33

Today in Applied Math 30s:

The class started off with Mr.Bennet handing back and reviewing our Exponential & Quadratic Quiz sheet. The purpose of the quiz was to test our abilities in the unit before the test on Thursday October 22. He review many key fact including how a quadratic graph with a positive value looks like bowl and a negative valued quadratic graph looks like a hat and that the x intercept is the same value as the zeros.https://www.edline.net/files/8acda3ebb67d611c3745a49013852ec4/world_pop_and_test_overview.pdf
Test Overview:
a - starting value
b - growth or decay rate
growth (1.07)
decay(.63)
Find regression, L1, L2n
STAT - Calc - Regression
2nd - Func. - TRACE

Find the y and zeros, vertex
*If YOU HAVE INVALID DIM YOU NEED TO TURE YOUR SAT PLOT OFF.*

Cubic - r2 correlation co-effcient

Tursday and Friday

We started the class Thursday by watching a movie on cliff divers and reviewing Wednesday's work. Then we continued by working on investigation 1 on page 95 as an example, which had to do with system of equation. After that we worked on investigation 2 questions 1,2,3 as another example. That was all for Thursday. On Friday we finished the rest of investigation 2, part b) 1,2,3 and part c) 1,2. Then we were assigned page 100 questions 1,2,5,10,11,12. question number 1 we had to find the zero. This was to be finished for Monday.

What We Learned in Class Today

Today in class we did some examples on tuturial 2.3 page 86 on problem solving using quadratic functions. We did example 1 A and B, and example 2 A, B, C and D. After we finished the example,s Mr. Bennet assigned questions 1, 2 A and D, 3, 6, 8 on page 90. If we didn't finish in class it was due for homework.

tut 2-3

Here are the notes from today. Ryan will post his version and the assignment.

6,800,000,000 is how much?

if we bought SONY 32' LCD 720p tvs with the 6,800,000,000 at $579.99
we would have 11,724,340 of them which is 375178880 inches the equivalent of
9,529 km, the tvs would go straight across Canada and then some
