(240-420)/(40-60) = -180/-20 = $9

Gross earnings: pay before deductions

Example 1:
(40)(7.50)=$300 (6)(7.50)(1.5)=$67.50
300+67.50= $367.50
Example 2:
Dale's sales = $21 675
($10000)(.09)=$900
21675-10000=($11675)(.12)=1401
1401+900= $2301
Example 3:
(7.25)(160)=1160
figuring out earnings - (3000)(.04)=120+800=920
1160=800+x
360=x-commission
360/x = 4/100
360/4%=9000
